Survivor Samoa – Dave Out (7-1) & Monica Out (5-2)

Posted in Authors, Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on December 11th, 2009 by Dan

Survivor ended up voting two people out last night, spliting the episode into two immunity challenges, and two tribal councils where two people were voted off. During this episode we were promised that Russell would pull “his boldest move ever” at Tribal Council. More explained as we go along. So, it’s night 30, and we see that Shambo is truely shocked that John was voted off, instead of Dave, what her “vision” said last episode. Russell lies, and tells Shambo it was John who was trying to target Shambo. Umm, if Shambo was John’s target, than how can Russell who thinks he’s a genius explain John voting for Mick and not Shambo? Anyways, it’s Day thirty one and we see Jaison, Monica, and Brett talking about Russell posibly being a jury threat, due to the way he’s played the game. OK, we see that these other people are aware of the puppet master, but aren’t doing anything yet. Then, Jaison tells Monica and Brett that Russell is actually a self mde millionaire, making an atempt to shake things up.

It’s an immunity challenge, and during the immunity challenge, it was simply a traditional game of bowling. Each Survivor had to face someone head to head in a two shot round. If they knock over more pins, they advance. The final round was between Shambo and Jaison. After Shambo missed both of her two shots, Jaison managed to hit two pins, and it was enough for Jiason to take another immunity win. At Camp, Shambo is still dead set on taking Dave out, continuing to play the game personal and delusionally. However, Russell begins scheming, again, as usual, and says that Davehas a lower shot of winning than Shambo, and wants to consider taking Shambo out. So, at tribal council, Dave and Shambo clearly voted for each other, but all the others voted for Dave, and Dave was the eleventh person voted off, and Shambo’s vision was delayed, but true.

It’s the next visible day, and Russell begins telling everyone and taking about Brett being the next biggest threat. Considering that Brett has all his Galu tribe members and has no negative vibes from those Galu jurors, him as a jury threat is clearly logic to say. So, it was time for the next immunity challenge, in which they had to swim out and receive bags, then launch them on a calipult into a basket. It was clearly a close race between Brett and Mick, and it was Brett who won, foiling the plans of Russell, as he was left to not vote for Brett. Back at Camp, Monica confronts Rusell about being a self made millionaire. Great job Russell, you tell one person something, and now you know everyone knows it. You have nobody to blame but yourself, congratulations. Russell gets upset that he made a mistake telling these people his secret, and storms around camp, upset and outraged, out to find out who told Monica this. The fingers are pointed to Jaison, who says Monica is stirring up stuff because she’s trying to stick around.

At Tribal council, Monica begins telling Russell like it is, and Russell pulls out his idol. Not to play it, but to just simply wear it, and let everyone knows he has it. Sure, that’s a “bold move”, I mean, we all saw Yul of season thirteen show everyone the idol. Not at tribal council, but at an auction, but still, Russell was just being like what Monica said at Tribal Council, “humble”. At tribal council’s vote, it was Russell who took two votes (From Monica, Brett) and Monica who took five votes, and she was voted off. Clearly she wasn’t the one who told everyone Russell was a millionaire, Jiason did that trick, and Russell was just dumb to believe Jaison. I truly feel Jaison will be the only one bold enough to take Russell down, if Russell is taken down. Mick and Natalie seem too scared to take him down now, and Brett has no numbers, and Shambo won’t turn on Russell.

Since this is the near end of the game, with just two episodes left, I want to give a complete analysis of what the jurors could do, and where I believe the current final six stand with the jury:

The present Jurors and their potential views:

Erik-Could vote for either Shambo or Brett, who were most loyal to him, or Russell, as he isn’t likely to be an extremely bitter juror. I don’t see him voting for Mick, Jaison, or Natalie, unless he has to. If anyone becomes a swing vote in the jury, it’s him, hands down.

Kelly-I think she’s pulling for Brett, and obviously not Russell or Shambo. Will possibly vote for either Jiason, Natalie, or Mick next, if Brett is out.

Laura-Will not vote for Russell or Shambo, and is clearly pulling for Brett all the way. Will vote for Natalie, Jaison, or Mick is one of them is there.

John-Is likely pulling for Shambo, then Brett. I don’t see him voting for Russell, and could vote for Mick, Natalie, Jaison, if Bret and Shambo are absent from the final three.

Dave-Will not vote for Shambo or Russell, and will pull for Brett. Will only vote for Natalie, Mick, or Jaison if it’s the only option.

Monica-Will not vote for Shambo or Russell, and is pulling for Brett. Will only vote for Natalie, Mick, or Jaison is necessary.

The final six, and their chances of winning is a specific order:

Brett- He will get a vote from Kelly, Laura, Dave, and Monica hands down. Erik may vote for him, depending on what the circumstance is, and who’s there, and how well the finalists present themselves. He could get John’s vote, if Shambo is absent from the final three. He will only get to the final three by two shots: winning the next three immunities, which could happen, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened, or the Foa-Foa members use him as a pawn to turn on each other, and he slides to the final three, or perhaps a combo of the two scenarios. He would be considered in my books, a Jenna Morasca type winner. Used as a pawn, could potentially win immunity  in order to stick around, and recieve a landslide amount of votes from the jury.

Jaison- He isn’t in Russell’s final three plans, so what he needs to do is get him, Mick, and Natalie to the final three, and execute that plan. I only see him winning if he is somehow gets bitter juror votes. If Brett, say, is the next to go, he’ll likely, and this was in the previews, take Shambo/Russell to the final three, and could get votes, considering some jurors will never vote for Shambo or Russell (Laura, Kelly, Dave, & Monica). Or Jaison could be thinking Russell/Shambo are more dangerous, and execute a plan to boot them 5th & 4th, and could still win. I sense Jaison is the potential swing vote at final five, if Brett’s next.

Natalie- If Russell has his current way, and we see him, Shambo, and Natalie in the final three, I can see  Natalie winning this way and this way pretty much only. Laura, Kelly, Dave, and Monica were betrayed when Shambo turned on Galu, and clearly don’t like Russell, and have no interest in seeing Russell win. If Russell has his final three plans go into action, Natalie could be the benefit from this.

Mick- He will only get to the final three by winning immunities, and could only beat out Russell and Shambo, if he’s in the final three with them. I can tell he’s Russell’s alternate target is Brett gets immunity, or perhaps, he gets cut loose for being caught targeting Russell. He’s not in Russell’s final three plans, and would easily lose to Jaison or Natalie, if he went to the final three with them. I don’t see a Mick/Shambo/Russell combo, right now.

Shambo- Will get a vote from Erik and John, and probably just those two. I don’t see any other vote for her, right now. Two won’t be enough votes for her, and Monica, Kelly, Laura, and Dave could be last on  their lists for her to win.

Russell- I can only see him recieving a vote from Erik, and if Brett isn’t blindsided, maybe Brett. I clearly see that if he betrayed Mick and Jaison, they’ll be way to bitter.

Here are what I feel are the most Likely Final three outcomes and how things could turn out:

Russell/Natalie/Shambo – If Russell has his final three plans executed epically, this should be the outcome I predict. Shambo would get 2 votes (Erik, John), Natalie has an easy four votes (Kelly, Laura, Dave, Monica). It wouldn’t matter what Brett, Jaison, or Mick did, but they’d porbably vote for Natalie anyways. Natalie could win with at least a 2-3-4 vote, or a 2-7-0 vote. Mick and Jaison will hold a huge grudge if Russell turns on them, I can easily see that.

Brett/Any 2 – If Brett gets to the final two, withany of the other two of the other five, simply by winning the last three immunities, he’s already got five votes, four of them already set in stone, with Erik who could go either way. He’s got Kelly, Laura, Dave, Monica, and could get Erik’s vote to call it a deal.

Russell/Shambo/Jaison – In the event Natalie became a loose cannon, and Russell had to let her go, this is potentially Russell’s next dream final three. In this event, I can see the same four Anti-Shambo/Anti-Russell four (Kelly, Laura, Dave, Monica) voting for Jaison. Mick and Natalie would be just as bitter that Russell didn’t take them to the end, and Brett would likely follow with this, too. I see Shambo getting Erik/John to vote for her, dead set in stone. If this combo occurs, it’ll likely end in a 2-7-0 vote, Jaison’s favour.

Jaison/Natalie/Mick – If Foa-Foa and Shambo take out the last target, Brett, and these guys go to the finale, I see Jaison will easily try to weasel himself as a swing vote, and make the decision to take Natalie/Mick or Russell/Shambo to the final three. If he takes Natalie and Mick there (and I think it’s less likely), I see the jurors being less present jurors actually voting for the better player, if Jaison executes this final three, he will get the votes from the present jury plus Brett’s vote, simply  only losing a vote from Russell/Shambo, or maybe Russell could admit defeat and vote for Jaison. If this final three occures, I can expect to see Jaison winning with at least seven votes (first six jurors, Brett), With Russell/Shambo going either of the three ways.

Survivor Samoa – Jaison wins Immunity & John was voted off (7-1-1)

Posted in Authors, Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on December 4th, 2009 by Dan

This episode started off with Shambo talking about how great it was to see Laura voted off, in which she should be thanking John, he’s the one who made that happen, not necessarily her. Then, next, the survivors wake up with tree mail, and they get money, all of them assuming next is an auction. At the auction, we see Natalie buy a peanut butter sandwich, and a nice shower, Shambo buys Sea Noodles, Mick spends all his money on a hamburger with fries & beer, Jaison buys an advantage to the next immunity challenge with his entire $500, and John buys a clue to the hidden immunity idol, and someone bought apple pie, but I forgot who, I think it was either Dave or John.

Back at the camp, John goes searching for the next Hidden Immunity Idol, where after he claims he can’t find it, he assumes that Russell has the next idol. Meanwhile, they have decided to cook Shambo’s friends and allies, the chickens. When Shambo was cooking, Dave commented on how she should cook the chickens, in which this got Shambo really ticked off. At night, Shambo was sleeping in which she’s claims she sees a vision that Dave was being voted off. That, to me, sounds pathetic and delusional. I thought I was watching Survivor, not another TV Show, Medium. So, Shambo tells Russell she wants Dave out next. Russell approves, even though he knows Shambo is just playing with her emotions, and not her brain.

At the immunity challenge, the survivors had to hold onto a log, weighing the same as them, for as long as possible. It was Jaison who used his advantage good enough to win this challenge, so he won immunity. Back at camp, Russell talks to John about voting Mick off, until Russell tells John he has the idol, then Russell says it should be John who goes, to keep his idol a mystery. Russell talks to Dave to insure he can get the votes to take John out, and Dave says he can. At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst owns Shambo, when Shambo says there was no strategies done today, in which Jeff Probst says that can’t be possible. Things at tribal council went according to plan, for Russell, and Mick and Dave got one vote, but John got the other seven, and he was voted off, becoming the fourth blindside in a row.

I’m so happy that John got the boot, especially after he screwed over Laura, maybe he should’ve listened to Monica and take the four votes, instead of the surprise seven votes. I also feel very satisfied that Shambo was taken for a loop, and was betrayed. I hope it just goes to show her. I really wish Brett was in the show more, but he’s just so nowhere, and that has to suck. I really hope that Natalie, Jaison, and Mick pull through and become the final three. Also, props to Dave for outwitting Shambo. I don’t expect Shambo to go back to Galu, I mean, just look, they’ve all scrwed her, she just might as well accept eighth place. I also give props to Russell for executing John’s departure and the betrayal to Shambo, I mean, if Shambo had a logic reason to vote for Dave other than something personal, she might have got Dave out. Other than that, I really hope Shambo’s next and Natalie/Mick/Jaison take final three.

Expeditie Robinson 2009 Netherlands/Belgium: The Final

Posted in Arthur's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 11 Belg-Neth on December 4th, 2009 by Art

Yesterday was the final of Expeditie Robinson. :)

At the previous tribal council, Rita won the second spot in the final, next to Marina. Later today, Jeroen, Dennis and Marcel will battle each other in a final challenge to determine the third finalist. Rita is very happy she reached the final. The men say they never expected her to make it to the finals because she is the weakest and had a lot of trouble with the food. Later, Rita and Marina look back to the start of the show, which started with sixteen women. Marina thinks back of the first challenge she won, with which she won a place in the final and the meeting with the men, while Rita thinks back about the time where the fourteen women lived together on one beach. They are happy that two women made it to the final two.

The men are anxious for the final challenge. Jeroen regrets losing the challenge to Rita, he was so close to making the final. Marcel says that winning the final challenge is part of his strategy. He thinks the other men will underestimate him because he is the oldest, but he knows he is stronger than the others think. Before the men go to the challenge, Rita makes a meal for them with loads of snails, salt and rice.

Dennis, Jeroen and Marcel go to the final challenge. This consists of many parts. The men have to untie a rope, swim a part, run through a mangrove, do a puzzle, run a bit, collect cubes, build a tower of fifteen cubes, make fire, light a torch and throw this torch into a wok. The first one to throw their torch in the wok wins the challenge and qualifies for the final. When the challenge starts, Jeroen takes an early lead. He unties the rope with no trouble and dives in the water. Marcel is second, followed closely by Dennis. During the swim, Dennis catches Marcel but Marcel overtakes him again. Jeroen keeps his lead and runs to the puzzle. He knows he is not strong at puzzles, which allows Dennis and Marcel to catch up. The men take a long time to do the puzzle, but it is Dennis who is the fastest. Marcel is the second to solve the puzzle while Jeroen keeps having trouble.

Dennis manages to collect the cubes and starts building the tower. Marcel catches up to him and collects the cubes, so he can start building as well. In the meantime, it seems that Jeroen has given up on the puzzle. He complains that the puzzle is not fair and it’s silly to lose the final on a puzzle. Marcel starts building the tower at the moment Dennis tower collapse, so they are at equal footing. Finally Jeroen manages to solve the puzzle and runs to Dennis and Marcel, who have a lot of trouble with building the tower. Jeroen manages to build the tower in one go but when he walks away, the tower collapses. Dennis has also build his tower, but his also collapses. Jeroen is quick in rebuilding his tower and is allowed to continue. Dennis rebuilds his tower as well and leaves Marcel, who keeps going and finally manages to build his tower so he can start to make fire. When he arrives with Dennis and Marcel, he sees neither of them has fire so they are at equal footing again. Marcel knows very well how to make fire and catches one. Soon after, Jeroen also gets fire while Dennis has none. The fires of Jeroen and Marcel have to burn through a rope, which Marcel’s fire does first. He can pick up a torch and light it. For the final part of the challenge, he has to throw the torch in a wok on the water. He has ten tries for this. He misses the first try, but since Jeroen’s rope hasn’t burned through he can go for a second time. Again he misses, so he goes for his third try. He throws this against the wok, but not in. He tries to get his fourth torch, but Jeroen has burned through his rope and can throw his first torch.

Jeroen misses! So Marcel can throw his fourth torch, but again throws it against the wok instead of into it. Jeroen can throw for a second time and also throws his against the wok instead of into it. Marcel has his fifth go and makes the same mistake again. Jeroen goes for the third time and misses again. Marcel can go for the sixth time, while Dennis still hasn’t made fire. Six turns out to be the lucky number: Marcel throws his torch in the wok and wins the challenge. Marcel will go to the final with Rita and Marina, while Jeroen and Dennis are eliminated. Marcel is in tears, he cannot believe he made it to the finals as oldest contestant. When he arrives back at the camp, Marina and Rita welcome him with open arms. Marcel is happy to spend the last day with two women and no men. They spend their final night with tearing down the camp and burning all their stuff. The next day, the finalists prepare for the final. Marina is sad because she has to leave the island. Marcel is not nervous for the final tribal council, while Rita is happy that she has achieved what she wanted to achieve. But now she made it to the final, she obviously wants to win.

The finalists arrive at the final tribal council, where they meet the jury, consisting of Simone, Igor, Marjolein, Kurt, Esmeralda, Dennis and Jeroen. After questions of the hosts, Rita says she is very happy to have made the finals. When the merge happened she was feeling very weak but she didn’t want to quit. She didn’t want to come this far and then quit. She hopes her body will be able to recover. Marina was the outsider of this show because she made it to the final after the first challenge. She is happy to be in the final because it has been enough. She says she is not a quitter. She thinks many people will think she had it easy because she was already a finalist, but mentally it was a big challenge to come this far. Marcel says that he didn’t sleep this night because he kept thinking about the challenge. He is proud because he played the game the way he wanted. He used strategy when he needed to and apologizes to Esmeralda because she hurt him. Esmeralda drops in and asks him if he can live with the idea of being a traitor. Marcel denies that he is a traitor because he thinks it was between Esmeralda and him to be eliminated. For some reason it’s the only question the jury asks, because the jury has to vote now. Igor, Esmeralda, Marjolein, Kurt, Simone, Dennis and Jeroen vote. Without seeing how they voted and what their reasons where, the votes are revealed. Then it is shown that Marina didn’t receive any votes. She finishes in third place. Then it is shown that both Rita and Marcel have two votes. The next one to receive a vote is Marcel. When he also gets a fourth vote, he is revealed to be the winner of Expeditie Robinson 2009!

Votes:
Esmeralda & Simone voted for Rita, all others voted for Marcel.

Own opinion: I’m very surprised about Marcel winning. The show was putting Jeroen on a pedestal so I was sure he would win. When he got eliminated, I thought Rita would get the votes, but I had no idea that Marcel would get all these votes.

Expeditie Robinson 2009 Netherlands/Belgium: Episode 13

Posted in Arthur's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 11 Belg-Neth on November 28th, 2009 by Art

After the voting, Dennis and Esmeralda are very angry. Marcel, Marina and Jeroen don’t dare to talk with the two and go to the sea to catch some fish. In the meanwhile, Dennis is complaining a lot about everything and makes fun of Marcel because he apparently doesn’t have friends waiting for him at home. Later, Jeroen goes to Dennis and explains him why he voted for him. Dennis is not happy with the explanation and says Jeroen has always said that he wanted to go to the finals with the strongest people and now went against his word. When all candidates are present at dinner, Marcel asks Dennis if he wants to talk. Dennis refuses, because he is angry Marcel didn’t come to him. Marcel says Dennis could’ve come to him if he wanted to talk, after which Dennis says he doesn’t want to talk and walks away. Before they have to battle in the elimination challenge, Dennis and Esmeralda promise each other that whoever wins, will do everything in their power to make sure that Marcel and Marina do not win the game.

The elimination battle is won by Dennis. Esmeralda is in tears when she has to leave, but is not angry anymore. She is happy with the things she achieved in the game and hopes Dennis or Rita wins. Dennis, because he is her best friend, and Rita, because many people underestimate her: they think she physically the weakest girl, but is mentally the strongest. When Dennis arrives back at camp, he immediately goes to Rita and complains to her about Marcel and Marina. Rita doesn’t want to hear this, she wants to spend the final days in the game in peace, without the constant gossiping, but Dennis keeps on going with the complaints.

During the challenge, the candidates battle for a positive vote at tribal council. The candidates have to hang from a pole. Marcel is the first one to fall, followed by Jeroen. Dennis and Rita are the final two in the challenge. The last one to fall is Dennis, so Rita wins the positive vote. Rita is extremely happy with the victory, it’s the first time she wins an individual challenge. Besides the positive vote, she also wins a stay in a hotel, where she can sleep, eat and go watch elephants, an experience she also enjoys.

At tribal council, the candidates discuss the voting for Dennis and Esmeralda again and talk about how difficult it is for Marina to not take part in any challenge because she already has a place in the final. But, after today she will not be the only person in the final. The candidates will vote for who will be the second finalist. Rita already has one vote, the one she won in the challenge. After this, the surprised contestants cast their vote: Marina votes for Marcel, because they have been friends since the beginning. Rita votes for Jeroen because she thinks he is the strongest player. The votes of Jeroen, Dennis and Marcel are not shown. When the host reveals the votes, it is shown that Jeroen and Rita both have two votes, while Marcel and Dennis have one. Because of the tie, Jeroen and Rita will take part in a challenge. The winner is sure of a place in the final. The challenge is a fire challenge: the candidates have to watch a fire. When the fire goes out, the candidates have to put their hand on a symbol. The first one to do so, goes to the final. When the fire goes out, both Jeroen and Rita put their hands on the symbol, but it is quickest is… Rita. With Marina, she is sure of a place in the finals. The three remaining men will battle next week for the third and final spot in the final.

For the voting, it went like this:
Dennis –> Jeroen
Jeroen –> Dennis
Marcel –> Rita
Marina –> Marcel
Rita –> Jeroen

(After the show, Marcel’s vote for Rita was shown, so only the second vote for Jeroen and the vote for Dennis are unknown and because people couldn’t vote for themselves, they must have voted for each other).

Survivor Samoa – Recap of the Recap

Posted in Authors, Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on November 27th, 2009 by Dan

In this special episode of Survivor: Samoa, they aired a “Closer Look” episode, literally giving us a closer look into the game. They didn’t vote anybody new off, and gave us a whole lot of new, interesting stuff to watch. This recap, however, to say the least, was the best episode so far this season. Here is some of the most remembered moments from this episode:

- Erik begins to make close ties with Russell S., with Russell as the leader, he feels he can be “second in command” or something like that. That’s actually a good strategy, to make good ties with the leader. Erik was a smart player, I wish he was still in the game.

- Russell H. was seen cuddling with Ashley on the first night. Yes, Russell is married and Ashley has a boyfriend, but their cuddling would’ve been beter than seeing Russell cuddle up with Ben. Russell and Ashley were cuddling like they were married to each other, however.

- Next, we see that Russell talks about not wanting to share food with the other camp members. He has his own papaya tree where he claims only he can eat at. He says he has no intention of feeding anyone else, as they aren’t his kids, and he’s not their dad. That’s what you call greedy. You’re not a family, but you’re a team. You can help you team out, that’s what a team is for, Russell, you idiot.

- After the second immunity challenge, we see that there was more than just Ben getting kicked out. We saw that Jaison was upset over being tackled by John. Does Jiason not realize this is a game where the producers were not clear on tackling rules, leting anything and everything happen. So, Jaison interrupted Jeff Probst talking, and makes a statement, telling John he’s coming after him. That’s never a good move to tell someone you’re after them, and that’s just more proof that Jaison takes things a bit more person than he should be. I can give condolences to what Jaison went through about his father, but this is a game, not real life.

- Next, back on Foa-Foa, we see that Russell did tell someone he’s a millionaire, he told Mick. That is a good way to earn tribal trust, but like Mick said, it could be used against him in the final two, or three.

- Next, we see Erik and a new rival: the emancipated chicken who was let out by Shambo. Erik decided to set up a trap for it, and later while Erik is away from camp, that chicken falls for the trap, and Shambo lets the trap go, capturing the chicken. Only late at night, we find Russell goign out and freeing the chicken, hoping to cause tension between camp life. I just wonder if Russell would let go of that chicken, if he had been the one to catch it.

- Next, we see that Dave was really pulling a dumb, pointless blunder by telling Shambo that she’s safe with Galu, and that the Galu tribe can carry her along. Shambo is upset, and immediately says she’s going to not be on board with a Galu alliance. I really thought Dave was a complete idiot telling Shambo she’s being carried by her tribe, and tells her she can’t be trusted. No wonder Shambo is in love with the Foa-Foa tribe. Way to go, Dave.

- Before Erik was voted off, just seconds before everyone left for Tribal Council, we learned that Brett was the last to know about Erik’s departure. Bret was probably the closest ally to Erik, since Russell S. was out, and I really like Bret’s try to be loyal to the guy’s alliance, and letting it go when he had no choice but to. I love how Brett’s loyal, that’s his strategy, I see, he doesn’t need to be the high and mighty puppet master yet.

- Lastly, we see this very irritating moment, when Shambo is grieving about her dead sister, and Laura was simply trying to comfort her in Laura’s brought up, spiritual way. Shambo says Laura was making her miserable, in which I didn’t see that. Shambo is really just against Laura, probably because they both want to be the alpha-female leader of their tribe.

That’s what basically happened, and what we saw. Next week, they showed up clips of what’s left to see, in which I remember Monica may come up with another train wreck, epic failure of a plan like she did last episode, Jaison, Mick, and Natalie making deals without Russell, and Russell and Natalie get into a massive fight. Here’s a little LLNMD list of the nine survivors currently left, below. And I’m curious to  know when this show is done. I mean, we’ve got to have at least four more episodes left, so I don’t know what Survivor is going to do. I feel-and would totally expect-a double boot somehow.

Survivor Samoa: Mick won Immunity & Laura voted off (5-5 tie)

Posted in Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on November 21st, 2009 by Dan

So, in Survivor it started with some tension of Russell playing the Idol last night and Kelly getting booted. Now, it seems that idol is going to be the dominating thing that gets people across. I just wish they had Exile Island, that’s better than everyone getting to look for an idol. OK, so During the reward challenge, they all had to carry one person along a rope structure to get flags. Five of them won, and they got to go via plane to another neighboring island and have lunch by a waterfall. They also received a video of where the next idol is.

At Camp, they all scramble around to find the idol, and behold, with no surprises, Russell found another idol, making this his third idol. Shambo automatically talks about not standing Laura, and hoping Laura loses immunity so she could vote for her. At the Immunity challenge, the survivors had to break a tile with a rock. If they hit a tile, they’d get to move on to throw a spear at a target board. Only John, Monica, Bret, and Mick got that opportunity. In the second half, Brett got two close hits, but Mick was closer, and he won.

Before Tribal Council, Shambo is telling her own Galu tribe mates she will be voting for Laura, so the vote was looking to be 5-5, as of then. Then, Monica tries to develop a plan to get the Foa-Foa tribe members to vote for John, trying to force a 5-4-1 vote. However, John heard of this plan, and disapproved of it, making him consider voting for Laura. At tribal council, the vote came out, and it was a 5-5 tie. Five votes went to Laura and Natalie. Jeff Probst automatically states in the event of another tie, everyone except Mick, Laura, and Natalie would draw rocks, in which the colored rock person takes the blame. At the second vote, John ended up switching sides and voted for Laura, and Laura was voted off.

I’m not Happy with Laura gone, simple because she was the rock to Galu, and John had to mess that up. I hope that John stands no chance of winning this game. It’s also painful to watch Laura lose to Shambo, who’s so stupid. I mean, she’s playing this game personal. She has sucked so much this game, simply because he probably doesn’t take the time to play with her tribe. Galu had several opportunities to have all of them still there, but they fall apart. John may have sided with Foa-Foa & Shambo, but I don’t see him staying with Foa-Foa, and he’s probably going to try to use Shambo as a good ally, and try to play Russell, have Russell think he’s staying with him, then boot Russell, downing Foa-Foa.

I really hope the Foa-Foa people stay together, and I hope to see Shambo & John make an attempt to go back to Galu, but see Foa-Foa burn them. Foa-foa has stuck together since the merge (3 rounds straight) and Galu has blindsided their own players (3 rounds straight). I want Foa-Foa to pull through. They got the best of Shambo, and John, now it’s time for Shambo and John to pay their own mistakes for turning on Galu. Foa-Foa is loyal to Foa-Foa, they are just getting on John and Shambo easily. Also, Monica had a price to pay, simple because she tried to get four votes to John, in which I would’ve never tried to put someone on my own tribe in a situation like that, because you can never do that.

Episode 12

Jeroen and Kurt take part in a battle to stay in the show. It’s the toughest and longest battle so far, with the tower of cubes almost reaching the length of the two men. At the end, it’s Kurt who loses the game by bad luck: a wind blows the tower over. Jeroen wins and gets to stay in the game. Meanwhile, Rita is having major trouble with the lack of food. She has lost a lot of weight (she is so thin that it is almost scary to look at) but does not want to leave the game. She is so close to the finals that she really wants to stay. She survives by trying not to think about food, although that is difficult because everybody is always talking about food.

When Jeroen arrives back at camp, Marina is very disappointed. Not only because a strong player returned but also because the other candidates pretend to be happy to see him. According to Marina they are hypocrites: first they vote him off and not they pretend to be happy to see him. Jeroen asks the other candidates to not vote for him at the next tribal council because he has taken part in two tribals already. Esmeralda is not impressed by this and still wants to vote for him, but Marcel is open for suggestions. He knows that Dennis and Esmeralda are strong people as well and asks Jeoren if he would be interested in voring for them. Even though Jeroen has always said that he is not interested in the tactical game, he realizes that he will not win if he does not play the game. Later, Marcel talks with Esmeralda and tries to get her to turn on her best friend, Dennis. He tells her that he would never vote for her and he hopes that she will do the same.

At the immunity challenge, the candidates have to go through an obstacle course. At the end of the course are four meals and one mystery price. The fastest person gets to choose their price, followed by the second fastest and so on. Jeroen is the fastest and picks the mystery price. Marcel is second and picks an hamburger with french fries. Esmeralda is third and picks the pizza. Dennis is fourth and goes for the chocolate and Rita is last and wins a sandwich with cheese. Once everybody has eaten, Jeroen receives the mystery price. He hopes that this is a challenge, but it turns out to be an extra vote. He is not happy with this, he says one vote for or less won’t make a difference. After this, the candidates take part in the immunity challenge. For this, the candidates have to guess how much time they took to go through the challenge. At tribal council it will be revealed who was closest to their true time and wins the challenge.

After the challenge, the candidates compare their times. Marcel finds out that he is way off and will probably not win the immunity. He is very disappointed abuot this. Marina is also very disappointed because the other candidates got to eat and she had to go without again (as guaranteed finalist she cannot take part in the challenges). Later there is a twist: the candidates can give up the individual immunity in exchange for fruit. All but one candidate (Jeroen) vote in favor of this, but the other candidates convince him to also give up his chance for immunity. Everybody can eat some fruit, but Jeroen says he is sure that he will get the most votes at tribal council again and complains some more about this.

Right before the candidates go to tribal council, Marcel talks with Jeroen and tries to convince him to vote for Dennis and Esmerlada. He says he will get Marina to go with them so they can eliminate Dennis or Esmeralda. At tribal council, the hosts show who would have won individual immunity if the candidates had not gone for the food. This turns out to be Esmeralda, who was five seconds off. After this, the candidates vote and these are revealed. It turns out that Marcel, Rita and Jeroen have two votes and that Dennis has three and Esmeralda four. Dennis & Esmeralda will battle eachother in the next challenge.

So in details the voting:
Dennis = Marcel & Rita
Esmeralda = Jeroen & Rita
Jeroen = Dennis & Esmeralda & Esmeralda
Marcel = Dennis & Esmeralda
Marina = Dennis & Esmeralda
Rita = Jeroen & Marcel

Episode 11

The elimination battle, of putting cubes on top of eachother, is won by Rita. Marjolein is not able to place the seventh cube on the sixth, which makes the tower collapse. She has to go, something she regrets but she is also happy with the things she achieved. When Rita arrives back at camp, she is welcomed greatly by the other candidates who are much happier to see her than they would be to see Marjolein.

Back at camp, Marina attacks Jeroen because Jeroen said at the last tribal council that he thinks he is received votes because the other candidates think he is too strong and the other candidates would rather go to the end with their friends than with someone strong. Marina says she didn’t vote for Jeroen because he is strong and says he’s arrogant to say that he is the strongest. Nobody backs Jeroen up, which upsets him. Later he notices that his old friend Kurt spends more time with Marina and Marcel. He thinks he is losing all his friends because of tactical reasons, people don’t want to be around someone who receives many votes. Meanwhile, Kurt, Marina and Marcel discuss the voting and say they want Jeroen and Dennis to receive the most votes at the next tribal council. Jeroen, because they don’t like him, and Dennis, because he is playing too many sides.

For the immunity challenge, the candidates get a certain number of balls in a “tube”. The challenge is to grab one ball from your own tube, climb a construction and put the ball in someone else’s tube. When someone has twenty balls in their tube, they are eliminated and the person with the most balls after fifteen minutes is eliminated as well. This continues until one person is left. At the beginning of the challenge, Esmeralda, Dennis, Rita and Jeroen take out Kurt. The next one out is Jeroen. A while later, the fifteen minutes are up and because Marcel & Rita are tied for number of balls, both are elimnated. Esmeralda and Dennis continue to fight, but fifteen minutes later it is obvious that Esmeralda has more balls so she is eliminated. Dennis wins the challenge. He also wins an extra price: he gets to meet someone’s loved one. At the previous tribal council, one name was drawn and the loved one of that person is the one Dennis will meet. He obviously hopes that this will be his boyfriend, but it turns out to be the wife of Kurt. Dennis and Kurt’s wife go to a little resort, where Dennis can eat what he wants and can tell Kurt’s wife all about her husband. When the meeting is over, he tells everything to Kurt who is really happy to hear something from home.

Later, Dennis and Jeroen have a discussion where Jeroen complains that he might be eliminated because he lost immunity. Dennis explains him that it is smart to vote for the strongest people because otherwise he will be eliminated. Jeroen takes something else from the conversation: because he thinks he will get the most votes, he thinks it is smart to vote for people who will get a lot of votes, so there will be more people in the elimination battle and his chances of being eliminated get smaller (why he doesn’t just make an alliance, I don’t know. It’s probably his holier-than-thou attitude). Marcel and Kurt also discuss the voting. Marcel explains that he will try his best to keep Kurt in the game because Kurt has said he will never vote for him. He will cast his votes for people who may get the most votes, so Kurt will be saved.

At tribal council, everybody does what they have been doing all along (which kinda makes all the conversations useless) and vote for the people who have received votes. When these are revealed, it turns out that Esmeralda has 0, Marcel has 1 and Rita has 3. Kurt has 4 and Jeroen 6, so the two men will battle eachother in the elimination battle.

Since Jeroen had 6 votes, everybody voted for him. Other votes shown were Jeroen & Rita voting for Kurt. I think Marcel, Marina and Kurt voted for Rita, so Dennis & Esmeralda would be the other voters for Kurt and Jeroen voted for Marcel.

Survivor Samoa – Laura immuned & Kelly Voted Off (4 votes)

Posted in Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on November 13th, 2009 by Dan

During this episode of Survivor, it basically starts off with Natalie killing a rat, and no, it wasn’t Shambo. Darn it. The Survivors ended up eating the rat, as we hear the famous Survivor phrase “This rat tastes like chicken” (Survivor Borneo flashback). Then, it was time for a reward challenge where they had to collect coloured coconuts on a pole and rearrange them into a sequence of numbers to have one person solve the combo. It was Dave, Monica, Kelly, Shambo, and John who won, They won a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to slide down a pile of rocks (a waterslide, made of rocks!) and eat chicken, massive sized donuts, and other food.

During this reward, the Survivors were all given their first immunity idol clue. Meanwhile, back at camp, Russell scrambled and scrambled around camp to find the idol, in which he assumed it was at camp. Sure enough, he fins the idol right under the bridge. Producers, please, just next time cut away with reward challenges and clues, just have them compete for an immunity idol by running around in circles at camp. That should cover fifteen minutes of my time once a week. Anyways, Russell shares the fact he found an idol to Shambo, where they easily talk about getting Laura out.

At the immunity challenge, the Survivors had to throw a hook at one of two bags and bring them to the end. The first three to finish will move on. It was Mick, Shambo, and Laura who moved on to round two where they had to use blocks to figure out a pattern on a board. Laura easily took charge of her fate in that challenge, and by talking to herself, she easily won. Laura may perhaps turn to be the female Ozzy, winning almost every immunity. That would be epic. Then, Shambo cries about the fact she can’t get rid of Laura, and she literally makes a desperate, sour face at her confessional.

So, the Survivor were all strategizing over who to get rid of. The former Galu tribe mates were all about sticking together, so they all agreed to vote for either Russell or Natalie, mainly Russell since he could easily have another idol. Russell is now unsure about what to do, play the idol and possibly see Natalie go, or not play, and possibly see him go. At Tribal Council, Russell ended up playing his idol, and was spared from the seven votes he did receive. It was ultimately Kelly who received the four votes, from the Foa-Foa four, and became the second person to join the jury.

I completely have so much respect for the Foa-Foa four, they are sticking together, unlike Galu’s Shambo who’s so worried about swapping sides to boot Laura it’s as if that’s all she cares about. In the game of Survivor, a tribe that sticks together goes the furthest. United We stand, divided we fall simple applies to Survivor very well. In thee past, we see that tribe who have stuck together (Tagi, Boran, Chauy Gahn, Chapera, Koror, Casaya, Aitu, Moto, Jalapao) lasted out to become the finals in the finale. Laura is about the one from Galu I like, the rest are just there, and then there’s Shambo. Next week, we’ll see all ten of them scrambling find that idol. That should be fun. Also, I want to see lots or just one comment, I really like getting them. Who are you all rooting for?

Love: Laura, Russell, Mick, Natalie
Like: Jaison, John, Monica
Neutral: Dave, Brett,

Survivor Samoa – Erik Voted Off (10-2)

Posted in Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on November 8th, 2009 by Dan

During the episode of Survivor, Foa-Foa talks about their constant losing and constant hope of a merge. This is where Russell talks about being on a tribe full of dummies, saying he’s got everyone played. If Russell is so much smarter, than can’t he just use his wisdom to have helped his tribe win? I mean, Galu can’t be the dumb ones, they always kept winning, whereas Foa-Foa with just two wins, makes them the tribe with the lowest wins (reward or immunity) in the history of Survivor, given Ulong won three challenges, and Survivor Fiji’s Rich/Poor twist makes Ravu/Moto an exception. Anyways, at the Galu tribe, Shambo is talking about the missing canteen, and also talking about Laura, not liking her. Laura goes ahead and counts the canteens, in which I saw Laura just double checking. Shambo’s ego got dented, and she goes off on Laura, and they argue about the canteens, which turned into Shambo talking to Laura about Laura, Monica, and Kelly being some kind of 90210 clique.

Next, the Galu tribe members and the Foa-Foa tribe members were given tree mail, in which they met on a beach where once again, Jeff Probst was absent, so the Survivors opening the chest full of new blue buffs and paints. They officially merged into one tribe. Brett named the tribe Aiga, or Samoan for “extended family”. Hey, Aiga is fine with me, it’s better than getting “Dabu” or “Aitutanga”. They were to all live on the former Galu beach. This is where Russell goes around the camp, and “planting seeds” as he calls it, of complete bull crap telling people he’ll give them the idol if he can get him to final seven. He goes to Laura, but smart, wise, Laura with common sense doesn‘t buy Russell‘s bull crap. So, he goes to Monica, and she simply doesn‘t buy it either. He goes to Shambo, and Shambo once again talks about not liking Laura. So, Russell tells Shambo that he’ll take Laura out. She agrees. Russell goes to John, who also buys the plan. Russell says something unusual, saying that someone is smart, that being John.

Then, it was time for the immunity challenge. I was eagerly expecting some kind of will-power endurance immunity challenge. Instead we get T-Ball, which is a game they teach kindergarteners how to play. The one who hit the ball into a place to score points. The man and woman with the highest score would be the eventual winner. For the men, it was John who won, which was completely fabulous, since it meant Russell didn’t win, and had to settle for second. For the ladies, it was clearly Laura who won. Honestly, did she even have to worry about not winning that one? This meant that Russell’s and Shambo’s plan to take Laura out were foiled. Yay for me! So, back at camp, there had to be a new plan. John begins talking to people about voting for Monica, saying that Laura/Monica are still a dangerous duo. Then, the formerly Foa-Foa members want to take Erik out, especially Jaison, who says he never liked him. However, Erik and the Galu guys decide it should be Russell who should feel vulnerable enough to play his idol, and they vote for Jaison.

So, at tribal council, Erik was stating his peace about wanting to keep Galu together, and easily picking off the rest of Foa-Foa. Jaison easily got arrogant, saying he’s had to prove himself in real life in order to get something. Well, you haven’t proven yourself in Survivor, and your reality tv life, that’s simply why you’re on a tribe with four verses eight. Jaison begins to really tick me off by saying “Look at my resume!” I mean, what’s that got to do with Survivor? So, it was time to vote, and after the voting was complete, Russell played his idol, securing he’d be safe from the vote. Erik chose to not play his idol. When the votes came out, Foa-Foa’s former tribe mates had their way and the Galu 90210 clique of Laura, Monica, and Kelly sided with them, in which the Galu guys couldn’t do anything else after that. So, with ten votes, Erik was voted off. Only Shambo prevented the unanimous vote.

This episode was very crazy, I mean it went from Foa-Foa being a target, to Laura being a target, to Monica being the target, to Erik being the target and eventually booted. Foa-Foa is easily ripping up the Galu tribe, and doing a very good job of it, thanks to not Russell being so great, but for John being the idiot who thinks he can get Monica out. I really don’t want to see the Foa-Foanese tribe members rip through Galu, I favour Galu simple because I think they have more potential, because they have the numbers, and can easily stop listening and pick up the pieces and get especially Russell and Jaison out. Shambo is still making me very irritated because she’s so worried about Laura she can’t find her own place in the game, and she can’t even vote for Erik even though Erik was playing her, despite the Galu guys voted for Erik. Why is Shambo playing this game?

LLNMD List:
Love: Laura
Like: Monica, Kelly, Mick
Neutral: Brett, Dave, Natalie
Meh: John
Dislike: Jaison, Russell, Shambo.

Episode 10

At the previous tribal council, Kurt, Igor and Marjolein received the most votes. Kurt doesn’t understand this at all and blames Dennis & Esmeralda. They are the cooks at the camp and he is sure those two do more than just cook. Marjolein understands why she got the most votes and doesn’t really mind: if she has to go, she has to go. Before the elimination battle, Igor goes meditating to prepare his mind for the challenge. When the challenge begins (build a tower of cubes, the person who makes this tower collapse is eliminated), he is not nervous at all. Nevertheless, it’s Igor who loses after Marjolein does a tactical move and places a cube in a manner which makes it very difficult to place a new cube on top of it. Igor is disappointed that he has to go. He says he won’t miss the people, but will miss the island.

The candidates get a letter which states that on top of the hill on the island, there are six flags. The six people to grab a flag can take part in the immunity challenge. The seventh person has to stay behind with Marina on the island. Marjolein immediately runs away and is followed by the other people. It’s Rita who is the slowest one because she is not wearing shoes and cannot run through the jungle. When Marjolein, Kurt, Marcel, Jeroen, Esmeralda and Dennis have grabbed their flags, Dennis and Esmeralda complain once again. This time about Marjolein, who is lazy around camp but suddenly had the strength to climb up the mountain.

For the immunity challenge, the six who grabbed a flag are divided in two teams: Kurt, Jeroen and Dennis on one team and Esmeralda, Marjolein and Marcel in the other team. The challenge consists of three parts: a strength part, a puzzle and an individual part, where the winning team compete for individual immunity. The three men easily beat the two woman and oldest man in the strength part, but the women and Marcel are much stronger in the puzzle and continue with the individual part. Here Marjolein takes an early lead, but it’s Esmeralda who beats her and wins individual immunity.

It’s not just immunity that Esmeralda wins: the hosts have got letters from home. Esmeralda gets her letter and can select two other people to get a letter. The letters of the people she doesn’t choose will be burnt for everyone to see. Esmeralda picks her friend Dennis and Marina, because she cannot take part in the challenges. Marjolein, Kurt, Marcel and Jeroen have to watch how the letters, drawings and photo’s their family, children and friends send them are burnt.

Back at camp, there are the usual tears because of the letters and complaints about the work Marjolein isn’t doing. Right before the team goes to the tribal council, Esmeralda confronts Marjolein with the complaints. Marjolein bursts out in tears when she says she doesn’t understand why she is strong in the challenges but weak around camp. She tells Esmeralda that she is really doing all she can, but her body isn’t strong enough. This touches Esmeralda who feels sorry for Marjolein and decides not to vote for her at tribal council. That doesn’t matter, as all other people vote for Marjolein and she gets the most votes. The second person with the most votes is Rita, the other weak person around camp. Right before the voting, Jeroen and Kurt told the hosts that they want to make the finals with the strongest people, so the weakest people get voted out. While the other candidates leave, Marjolein and Rita stay behind to take part in the elimination battle.

As for the full voting results, it probably went like this:
Dennis = Marjolein & Rita
Esmeralda = Kurt & Jeroen
Jeroen = Marjolein & Rita
Kurt = Marjolein & Rita
Marcel = Jeroen & Marjolein
Marina = Jeroen & Marjolein
Marjolein = Kurt & Rita
Rita = Kurt & Marjolein
Not too sure, as it seems unlikely that Dennis would vote for the two weakest girls as he voted for the strongest men before, but since he was attacked for voting for the stronger men, he might have changed his strategy. The votes for Kurt are most unclear because he is hardly in the show and we don’t know for sure who likes/dislikes him.

Episode 9

At tribal council, Simone and Jeroen received the most votes. This means they will compete in a battle and the loser of the battle will leave the game. Since the battle will take place the day after tribal council, Jeroen and Simone get to spend a few more hours with their team. During these hours, Jeroen asks Dennis why he voted for him. Dennis says he thought there was an alliance between Jeroen and Simone, which Jeroen denies. He doesn’t stay mad with the team, soon he is friends with everybody again. Simone is less happy: she warns everybody for Dennis & Esmeralda, according to her, they are the people they have to watch out for.

The next day, Simone and Jeroen battle in a challenge. For the challenge, they have to put cubes on top of each other until the tower of cubes collapses. The person who makes the tower collapse, has to leave the show. The unlucky one is Simone, so for the eleventh time in a row, a women leaves the game.

After Jeroen returns to camp, the candidates compete in an immunity challenge. This is a wrestling match: the men have to wrestle on a little platform and the women on another platform. The task it to push the members of the same sex of the platform and swim to a central platform, to grab the immunity necklace. The fastest person wins. The battle between the men is a short one, after all men push Igor of the platform, Jeroen manages to push the other men off. At the women platform, Rita is the first one to be pushed off. Esmeralda and Marjolein battle each other for a long time, but since Jeroen has already pushed all men off, he can swim to the immunity necklace and wins. Besides the immunity, he also wins a trip to the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lampur. He can take one women with him and chooses Rita.

In Kuala Lumpur, Rita and Jeroen have the time of their lives. They can eat and drink what they want, can wash themselves and see themselves in a mirror for the first time in a very long time. Rita is shocked when she sees herself, she has lost a lot of weight.

The other candidates, who stayed behind on the island, discuss the next voting. Igor and Marjolein know they will vote for each other in hopes of not being the one who gets the most votes. Dennis and Esmeralda also discuss the voting. Dennis complains that Marjolein doesn’t do any work and wants to vote for her. In the meantime, Marcel and Kurt manage to catch a goanna. Earlier, Marcel caught a little shark, so the team has enough to eat.

After Jeroen and Rita returned from Kuala Lumpur (in new clothing), the team goes to tribal council. There, Marina complains about her place in the final. She cannot compete in the challenges and says the show is a little bit boring for her because there is no excitement for her. Kurt tells the other candidates that he does not want to make alliances and Marcel says he plans on winning the game by making friends with the other candidates. After this, the votes are cast. Marcel votes for Dennis because he thinks he is too friendly with the other candidates, Esmeralda votes for Kurt because she doesn’t trust him, Marjolein votes for Igor because he is an outcast and Jeroen votes for Marjolein because she does the least work around camp.

When the votes are counted, it turns out that Marcel and Esmeralda have no votes, Dennis has one, Rita has three, Kurt and Marjolein have four and Igor has six. This means that Kurt, Marjolein and Igor will compete in a battle and the loser will have to leave the show.

Survivor Samoa – Liz Voted Off (4-1)

Posted in Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on October 30th, 2009 by Dan

The Survivors on Galu had a task: elect a new chief. All of the guys, including Erik, Dave, John, and Brett all plan on allowing Shambo become chief, before the even begin electing. So, when it comes time to elect a leader, Shambo was elected, receiving the four guys’ votes. The other women, especially Laura and Kelly were really not happy with this decision. Galu’s chief election was just like U.S. politics, you satisfy 60%, and disappoint 40%. Then, on Foa-Foa, Mick, Jaison, Russell, Natalie, and Liz were all pretty much fed up with their constant losing of the challenges, and wanted no more than to just win.

At the reward challenge, it was a matching and memory game: They could either take the necessary item and forfeit their point, or just take the point, and forfeit the item(s). During the challenge, Galu was in compete dominance once again, as they took seven points, one special item, and won reward. Their reward was a meal on a sailboat. Shambo, as leader, sent Laura to the Foa-Foa camp. Laura claimed it was just a personal attack.

At Foa-Foa, Russell and Laura are talking about church, ministry, and stuff like that at first. Russell tells her that his father was a preacher. I really hope that is true, because lying about being religious is just plain too far, too much. Then, Laura is told by Russell about a secret alliance he wants to make with her. Laura automatically agreed with. Then, Russell tells us his currently plan: Take Laura and Natalie to the final two, whom he thinks are the “dumb girls”. Let’s just reminisce this, that plan didn’t work for Rob, I doubt it’d work for Russell.

In the immunity challenge, I’ll just say it was a bit more creative, in a way. Instead of swimming to get puzzle pieces, they used hooks to fish them out. During this challenge, Foa-Foa had a lead, then Galu took it over, as Jaison was nearly giving up in the challenge, and Galu won immunity again, proving to Mick that some necklace isn’t bad luck. Jaison really was clearly not in this, and maybe Foa-Foa could’ve won if Jaison was in this. Simply, if you can go to college, you can do a puzzle.

Back at Foa-Foa, Russell, Mick, and Natalie seemed to have a strong upper hand, and it was either going to be Liz, the bottom, untrustworthy person, or Jaison, the guy who gave up in the challenge. At Tribal Council, they all once again mentioned a few words abut being so very tight. It was Liz with four votes who got voted off. Next week, the survivors will merge, but I still expect some kind of twist. This would be Survivor’s first ever merge with more than ten players.

I really like Russell attempting to work on the other tribe. He’s really going to have to work on getting the Galuanese tribe members to turn on each other. I am about 50-50 on the chance of Shambo jumping sides to make alliances with the Foa-Foanese survivors, whom she has said was her friends. If she does this, she’d probably want something dumb like taking Laura out to happen. However, why go with just Shambo, when Russell and Foa-Foa can easily convince Laura to jump sides, and that would allow Kelly and Monica to jump sides with her. That’s about certain to happen, if you ask me.

I am actually looking forward to and would be satisfied with a Russell/Laura/Natalie final three, simply because is Russell is doing all the backstabbing, it could give Laura a few “friend’s votes, but considering she turns on her tribe, I’d expect the Galuanese guys and/or Shambo to perhaps vote for Natalie to win. That’s just if Russell got his way, I think Laura would try to bring her, Monica, and Kelly along as far as possible, as it seems.

A few words about the Survivors:
Shambo: Umm, please vote her out, Galu!?!?!?
Erik: I don’t know if it’s just me, or did he not want to be the leader, as hopes of not being a threat?
Brett: Well, at least he can lead a tribe to victory, so he can’t be as dumb as the edit makes him look
John/Kelly/Monica: Absolutely no opinion, whatsoever, as of now with these guys
Dave: Not much to say about him, either, he seems as he’s just trying to be second in command of the Galu Guys alliance.
Mick: As good of a leader as he is being Russell’s sidekick, I think I’m just a bit disappointed with him now.
Jaison: A major disappointment, he supposed to be smart, but he gave up in a challenge and I’m glad he’s not in control, because he’d probably play personal, if he was in any powerful position.
Natalie: Like Brett, She’s probably got more sense than what the edit- and what Russell says.
Russell: Good thinking wanting the “dumbest” final three partners. . . . .NOT! It’s going to get us a so-called “dumb winner”. People are bitter, you don’t just take someone to the final two because they maybe perhaps look dumb, you have to take the one nobody would like to the end. That’s how people like Dreamz and Sugar get to the end.
Laura, I just see her as just another person nobody would vote for in the final three, is she were to turn on her tribe mates, which I see that happening because she wants Shambo out fast, therefore, at least she’s just another favourite I rooted for to go to the final three (she’d be, like, the eleventh favourite I’d see in the final three).

Love: Laura

Neutral: Brett, Monica, Kelly, John, Dave, Erik
Meh: Russell, Jaison
Dislike: Shambo.

1-5 Power Rankings:

Survivor Samoa – Russell S. evacuated

Posted in Dan's Blog, Survivor, Survivor 19 USA on October 27th, 2009 by Dan

The Samoan nature continues to rain, and everyone is tired of their 80 hours of rain. Russell S. is seen working, while the other Galu tribe members were huddles together, shivering. At Foa-Foa, it was the same case, almost, as Russell H. was working, while not even minding the horrible rain, and the others remain huddled together, freezing. Finally, the rain stopped, and the Galu tribe members are amazed they wake up to see a rainbow. Spirits could be up, and they were given their next challenge.

During the challenge, the Survivors had to strap someone is a ball, and have two people blindfolded carry the ball person to a table maze, with the ball person guiding the blindfolded them through everything , even the table maze. This is where Foa-Foa was to take the lead, and this is where Russell S. passed out, due to dehydration. Jeff Probst stopped the challenge to have the medical team check Russell S. out. Russell S was in a bad condition, and Jeff Probst says to the other survivors the challenge is cancelled, which this is the first time a challenge is discontinued inn the middle of it. Nobody won reward, and everyone else had to go back to camp. As planned, however, both tribes were to report to tribal council where two people, one from each tribe, were to be voted off.

Russell S., most likely unaware of what just happened and wanting to say, even though in slurring, he’s still able to stay in the game. Jeff Probst tells him he blacked out twice and was in no condition to be on Survivor. Jeff Probst commented it’s the scariest thing he’s ever seen in Survivor. Russell S. was removed from the game, and crying, Russell S. was very disappointed. Back at Foa-Foa, the survivors prepare to boot one of their own. Liz and Natalie are almost sure they have no chance of splitting up the guys and voting one of them off, so they agree to vote for each other. Russell H., however, is there telling Natalie that Liz is to be voted off.

Back at Galu, the guys Erik, Dave, John, and Brett all band together and agree to vote for Monica, and they agreed to tell Shambo their plan, but not include Shambo in their alliance. Meanwhile, Monica tells Laura she wants to se Shambo, especially since Shambo got her last time. Then, the survivors reported to tribal council together (OK, you know something’s up) and Jeff talks to both tribal in the same old tribal council talk-show type routine seen every tribal council. Jeff Probst then is to tell the survivors the double boot has been canceled. The pizza was rewarded to them, but I know this through source, they really didn’t air that part.

Yes, it was sad to see Russell, a tribe leader with no signs of losing and almost had final five written all over him, leave the game like this, but you’re not really suffering if you take care of yourself, have the right amount of water, food, etc. He should’ve taken better care of himself, Survivor may not be Paradise Hotel, but it’s not a impossibly too rigorous and dangerous either. I think the idea of not going on with the double boot pretty much confirms that there will be a later double boot and five people will make it to finale night.

I’m almost frustrated seeing Liz and Natalie “accept” the fact they “must” or whatever vote for themselves when this is Survivor, you “have” the right to do things to avoid getting your torch snuffed. The way things are going, I don’t see Liz trying to keep herself around, because we didn’t see it this time. Also, I’m not liking the all-guys alliance, and adding Shambo in it while not being certain yourself is not too bright of a move either. I think John and Bret are not really caring about this all guy alliance, they really didn’t seem like they cared or wanted to really be with that plan. Erik is pretty much arrogant, and really cocky towards the other team, so I see him being not much but Foa-Foa’s top contender on their hit-list, if Foa-Foa remains as strong as they say they are and win these next few challenges.

Most of them are real hard to like, whether their invisible, or just not likable.

Episode 8

The show starts where it ended last week: team Noord and team Zuid come together for what they think is the merge. However, only ten of them will make it to the merge and three will be eliminated. Who this will be is decided by a fire-making challenge. The only person who won’t take part is Marina: she is already a finalist and cannot take part in any of the challenges. She is sent to the beach where she can prepare a feast for the ten winners. The other twelve start the challenge. The challenge is to make a fire tall enough to burn through a rope. Once the rope is burned, the candidates have to grab their bag and run through a jungle. The first eight people to put their bag in the chest the men carried through the jungle a few episodes ago will go to the merge.

The first person to make fire is Marjolein, followed by Jeroen and Jill. Of the three, Marjolein is the only one to make her fire tall enough to burn through the rope. She grabs her bag and runs. The fires of Jeroen and Jill stop burning, whil Kurt, Marcel and Igor all make fire and burn through the rope. They also grab their bags and run to the jungle, where Marjolein is the first one to put her bag in the chest. She can continue walking to the beach, where Marina has started a barbecue. She is followed by the three men, Kurt, Marcel and Igor. Later, Dennis, Rita and Simone also arrive at the beach. Seven people have finished the challenge, only one more will qualify. Jeroen is the first one to make fire and runs to the jungle, but is closely followed by Yolanda. Jeroen wins the sprint and is the eigth one to place his bag in the chest.

The four losers are Yolanda, Jill, Eva and Esmeralda. The four will battle in a final challenge to determine who gets the last place in the merge. For the challenge, they have to build a tower of blocks. The one who builds the tallest tower in two minutes wins. Yolanda takes an early lead and is followed by Eva. Both towers collapse after one minute. Esmeralda is then in the lead and because her tower does not collapse, she wins the challenge and is the last person to qualify for the merge. The three losers are Yolanda, Jill and Eva, who have to leave the show.

The ten people who made it to the merge, Dennis, Esmeralda, Igor, Jeroen, Kurt, Marcel, Marina, Marjolein, Rita and Simone, take part in a huge feast. During the feast, Marcel drinks too much and is awake the whole night, talking gibberish. The following day, the other candidates start working while Marcel is still sleeping. He has an headache and wants to take a ‘day off’ to recover. While working, Igor takes off with a coconut again. Dennis sees him drinking the coconut and later accuses him of stealing. The whole team gets involved in the argument, which ends with Kurt making fun of Igor, which upsets Igor who calls him a stupid clown.

The immunity challenge is one where they have to eat horrible food. The candidates battle in three heats and the three winners of the heats qualify for the final. The first heat is between Dennis, Esmeralda and Igor. Igor wins this easily and beats the two people who he continuously argues with. The second heat is between Jeroen, Marcel and Marjolein and is – to the surprise of many – won by Marjolein. The third heat is between Simone, Kurt and Rita and is won by Simone. The three winners battle eachother in the final. This turns into a big battle between Simone and Igor, one that is won by Igor. He wins immunity and cannot be voted out. The other candidates are not happy with this, they all wanted to vote him out.

Back at the camp, people talk a lot about who they want to voted out. The two names that are mentioned the most are Marjolein, who works the least, and Simone, who curses too much. When the ten candidates arrive at the tribal council, there is a twist however. Rather than casting one vote, the candidates will cast two votes and the two people who receive the most votes will battle eachother in a challenge. The winner will remain in the game, while the loser has to go. The candidates cast their votes and when these are counted, it’s Simone who has the most votes. To the surprise of many viewers, Jeroen has the second most votes. He got these votes because he was the closest friend of Simone. This means that Simone and Jeroen will battle eachother in a challenge. The loser goes home. Who wins will be shown in the next episode.
