I’m a Celebrity US – Review

Posted in Dan's Blog, I'm A Celebrity 2 USA, I'm A Celebrity GMOOH on June 17th, 2009 by Dan

Sorry I haven’t been blogging about this show, I really lost a lot of interest in it. I’m a celebrity isn’t, well, what should I saw, a nicely smooth original program. It may be a hit over there in Britain, but, here, it’s just so crazy. Spencer and Heidi have quit three times, and returned three times, only to quit again, and never to return (finally). I’m not sure if it was really the Devil or God who was telling them what to do. I wish them well in Beverly Hills, and hope they become mature Christians.

Over time, Angela was evicted first, and soon after, Frances couldn’t take being without her partner, so she left. Daniel Baldwin and Holly Montag entered the game, Daniel on day 3, and Holly on day 10. I personally hate it when someone quits, and is replaced. I like BBUS and Survivor US, if someone quits, nobody replaces them.

Also, this show is a lot like shows I’ve watched in the past and shows I watch currently. It has reverse Big Brother’s original concept, with nominations, and a public vote, in a Survivor-style location, a harsh environment, as the competitions (or the ones I saw, at least) resemble Fear Factor, that give the celebrities Survivor’s catering of Rewards, food, and immunity.

Another thing is that it is really hard for me to commit to shows that air in frequency of more-than-one times a week. Especially when I have wipeout on Wednesdays at the same time, and the fact it’s on four days a week. That kind of makes me glad Big Brother is just for three days here, in a way. It’s an OK show, but I am waiting even more for Big Brother to Start July 9th.

I’m a Celebrity US – The First Episode

Posted in Dan's Blog, I'm A Celebrity 2 USA, I'm A Celebrity GMOOH on June 2nd, 2009 by Dan

The episode starts off with two teams: red team and yellow team and they go trekking along the jungle to base camp. During this trek, we see Patti Blagojevich floating down the river and when Sanjaya spoke in confessional, I swear they forgot “amateur” in Amateur pop star. Also during the trek across the jungle, there was falling on rocks, pointing out a black monkey to John Salley, crossing rivers, and celebrities thinking “what have I done?” Finally, the teams arrive to base camp, and finally get settled.

During the first night, everyone seemed to be OK, except for of course, Heidi and Spencer. Spencer whines that he’s too rich for all this, and they both claim their charities couldn’t mind getting such a small amount. So, Spencer and Heidi decided to quit. Then, after the commercial break, something pulled them along, and they decided to return to the game. The next day, it was morning. Everyone was up, getting prepared for the day, and guess what? No surprise! Spencer and Heidi are gone! So, Torrie decides to mock Heidi’s hair product. However, she gets busted by Spencer. Spencer knocks out Frangela’s canteen from one of their hands and screams in her face. Then, he makes a joke about Torrie selling steroids.

On the very first challenge, the presenters, Damien Fahey and Myleene Klass were there to tell them they are not red or yellow team: They were pink team girls and blue team boys. So, in the very first mission, teams had to complete in a eating competition. They ate things like praying mantis, tarantulas, rat tail, iguana tail, etc. It was the boys who ended up winning, earning a nice chicken dinner.

During the next night, the boys decided to share their chicken dinner, and pineapple with the girls. The next day, Patti Blagojevich talks about the trial with her husband, and her losing her job, which I’m actually sorry for. The other people seemed superlative of her, and Spencer and Heidi help her with a prayer, which is very courteous of them, as they said the truth will come out. It actually sounded to me like she was sticking up for her husband with praise, and she points out him giving insurance to every kid.

Next, the Celebrities had to choose one male leader and one female leader from each team. Lou Diamond Phillips was picked for the guys, and Janice was picked from the girls. So, Lou and Janice competed for leader of he week in a battle to win that title. Janice surrendered to Lou, letting him win. Lou earned leader of the week, where Sanjaya volunteered to massage his foot. Last, the episode ended in a live trial where they are in a pit with live creatures. John Salley and Frangela are already out of it, so about sic\x of them are left.

This show is very amazing. They all have very strong personalities, whether is emotional like Patti, spoiled like Spencer and Heidi, or nice like john and Lou. Sanjaya has nice hair, and he kicked tail in the challenge, but I still don’t see him lasting. Spencer and Heidi stole the show, so we’ll see how it works with them gone. I really like Spencer and Heidi and lot, but as Christians, they have a lot to learn. I still feel that Patti will go, since she just isn’t a celebrity. My top three as of episode one are Lou, Spencer, and Frangela.

I’m a Celebrity US – Cast Reveal & Boot Prediction

Posted in Dan's Blog, I'm A Celebrity 2 USA, I'm A Celebrity GMOOH on June 1st, 2009 by Dan

So, I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of here US will premier tonight! It took longer than I expected, but the ten (or eleven, as we have a pair) celebrities are finally revealed. I have here the names of those celebrities confirmed, along with the order I‘d believe they will respectably leave.

01. Patti Blagojevich is a wife of a corrupt politician. She’s probably has the least amount of celebrity status. She’s just a real estate broker and literally, doesn’t have anyone who will watch the show because of her since real estate brokers don‘t get paparazzi or even fans. Except for her family, perhaps. Basically, just ignore her and she’ll be first to go.

02. Sanjaya Malakar is just about as talented as the people who voted for him, from what I know about him. This guy appeared on American Idol 6, and later (or before) that we never saw him. I really don’t think those Idol fans who saved him week after week will come here and save him.

03. Spencer Pratt is from The Hills, and is a newlywed to Heidi Montag. Basically, the only vote he’ll get is from die hard girls who are boy-obsessed. I think Heidi may outlast him, simply because we want to see Heidi put up with a jungle without her Spencer.

04. Heidi Montag is from the Hills, and is married to Spencer Pratt. Basically, if anyone becomes a drama queen, it will be her. It’s her side career, basically to get attention. She will get votes from guys who are horny, and think she’s jut the best looking. Other than that, maybe her dramatic tantrums from the jungle will keep her here.

05. Stephan Baldwin does too many reality shows. He’s supposedly was in The Mole US twice, right? And in Celebrity Apprentice. I don’t really know he’ll really do, but I since he’s a mid boot, because the others are just more real-celebrity like.

06. Janice Dickinson is a model, and former TV judge of America’s Next Top Model. I really think she looks dramatic, but I just feel the others will get the chance to outlast her. I haven’t seen her on TV, though, or-Of these people-I know Baldwin most.

07. Torrie Wilson is a female wrestler. I really feel she’ll get far, just because guys that are horny will be wooed by her also, more than Heidi, though. I really don’t know much about her, and I’m excited to see her. I’d actually love to see her win.

08. Frangela is actually a comedic duo named Frances and Angela. They appear on radio and the show Best Week Ever. I really feel they’ll outlast all of the women and make it to the finale (there is three finalists?) however, I think John Salley or Lou will take the win.

09. John Salley is a sports talk show host from The Best D*** Sports show. I think, since the others seem more like a bunch of attention cravers, he’ll earn some spotlight and do fine in this game.

10. Lou Diamond Phillips is probably the closest person to a REAL celebrity, whom of which I don’t think has even done a Reality show yet. He’s acted in theater, TV, and movies and writes and directs. I think he’ll earn the fan base he needs for this show to really pull off a win.

I’m a Celebrity US – Current Information

Posted in Dan's Blog, I'm A Celebrity 2 USA, I'm A Celebrity GMOOH on May 17th, 2009 by Dan

OK, I will be blogging about I’m a Celebrity US version over the month of June. Here is what I do know, which came directly from the NBC website. The show will premier Monday, 1st June/June 1stat 8:00PM, with the premier being two hours. The concept pretty much remains the same as season one and like the UK version: celebrities are voted into playing challenge they can win, and at the end, the celebrities’ fate is determined by America, known as the puppet master. I’m actually, for one very surprised to see them keep the concept, considering season one flopped six years ago. I thought they’d try to pull a Big Brother, and decide to change the format in hopes America will get it better.

I Really don’t know what to say on about how successful this show will be. Big Brother U.S. and I’m a Celebrity U.S. are about public voting, but they’ve got nothing to do with Talent. The talent shows like America’s Got Talent and American Idol are big, but they’ve got talent based on them. I really thought they’d try to change the concept, which is what Graham thought also when I spoke to him. The show got sued for being derivative to Survivor (remote location setting, competing for luxuries and food) but the significant differences are Survivor never features Celebrities or has anything to do with the public choosing who stays and who goes.

There are seven celebrities that are confirmed to be on the show, meaning three spots are left for negotiation by NBC. I will have a review of the cast when all ten are confirmed, so in the meantime, I’ll share with you the seven confirmed and a brief word about whom they are. Rod Blagojevich, a US ex-politician whom got impeached last winter was supposed to join the cast, however, he was denied the right to leave the country and head off to Costa Rica, which is the setting of the show. Rod Blagojevich, however, is supposed to “play some part” is this show. Out of the seven confirmed, five of them came from other reality shows.

The confirmed celebrities:
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt aka “Speidi” – Newlyweds from the Hills (MTV reality show)
Janice Dickinson – Super Model and Former TV Judge of “America’s Next Top Model, also owner of “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency” and I believe a contestant on I’m A celebrity UK.
John Salley is a Talk Show host, former basketball player, radio talk show host, and a PETA supporter.
Sanjaya Malakar is an Overrated American Idol 6 contestant.
Stephan Baldwin is an Christian actor, who appeared in Celebrity Apprentice US last year.
Torrie Wilson is a retired WCW & WWE female wrestler

If I could personally choose some of my favorite celebrities, I’d choose Rosie O’Donnell just because I love hearing her talk about absolutely nothing about nothing, Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee, if they are still looking for a politician, and Faber from Faber Drive, my one and only) favorite rock star. Also, since I’m sure another reality star will jump in, maybe Matt/Amy from Little People, Big World or April Margera or Crazy Bam Margera from Viva La Bam. You can check out the show’s website here at http://www.nbc.com/im-a-celebrity/ and you can let me know if there has been any more confirmed celebrities.

I’m A Celebrity, Get me out of here! (U.S. series) Will Return

Posted in Dan's Blog, I'm A Celebrity 2 USA, I'm A Celebrity GMOOH on March 14th, 2009 by Dan

Six years after in disappeared from the United States, I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here, the American version, will return this summer, this time broadcasted by NBC. It will air nearly daily for a month, the month of June. The show will broadcast from Monday’s to Thursday’s. America will be the puppet master, controlling people being put into tasks, and then America will be televoting off the Celebrities. Viewers will be televoting people to do tasks, win luxuries, and eventually, decide who stays and who goes. The network wanted to bring back the series, since apparently, six years ago back in 2003, it didn’t work out with ABC. The Winning celebrity gets money for charity. The show was sued in the U.S. for being too derivative to Survivor.

I know this is one of the shows Graham follows, and follows with the UK version, which has made eight seasons, going on nine. I’m curious to know, is this show any good there in the U.K.? I am sure it didn’t work out too well for the U.S., considering it was canceled, but maybe, since it was wanted back, NBC thinks it can be better. Until this year, with American Idol 8, I haven’t followed up with a televoting show for a long time, probably since Rock Star: Supernova. I’m real curious to see which celebrities, and probably Reality Stars, will get the chance to be on it. My favourite, Paris Hilton, would always be an excellent choice for choosing someone to be stuck in a jungle.
