BB10 Germany 1st Live Show review

Posted in Big Brother, Big Brother 10 Germany, Holger's Blog on January 20th, 2010 by Holger

Hi guys,

with a one-day delay, here is my review of Live Show, which in my opinion was one of the most boring ever just because there was no real structure in it.

Here are the two main events of Live Show:

Nominations and Fake Eviction:

The girls in the Secret House had to nominate among themselves. The one with the most nominations would be fake evicted (unknown to the housemates). Pisei got nominated unanimously and was fake evicted. She then moved to the Main House. During the next week all housemates in the Secret House will get the chance to get to the Main House by losing their own mini task (which they don’t know they were told that they would be evicted.) In the aftermath of Pisei’s entrance, Pisei actually bitched about the other girls in the Secret House. I really see a storm coming over her.

New housemates and Fake Date:

As the last housemate of the Secret House, Eva got to date her fake partner which was played by the new housemates Klaus. It turned out to be very funny. Because it was dark in the Dating Room, Eva couldn’t find her way to the chair which looked really hilarious and was fun to watch. During the date, Eva und Klaus were asked for a dance. Eva then asked Klaus if he was naked. (dead funny, because sex is currently one of the main topics in the house and Eva is not the most sex-enthusiastic person in there. She didn’t know that Klaus was wearing a topless shirt.) In the end, the housemates in the Secret House chose the real Klaus (which was dated by Cora on Sunday) as their new fellow housemate. After his entrance, Klaus confessed that he was actually playing all dating partners. The housemates were really surprised and were rewarded with a party afterwards.

As I previously said, this Live Show was boring even though Sunday’s highlights were shown and the two main events only lasted 45 minutes of the show which was 135 minutes long. So the criticism about the live shows seems to be overheard by the producers.
So see you on Sunday for the weekly review,

Holger

BB10 Germany weekly review

Posted in Big Brother, Big Brother 10 Germany, Holger's Blog on January 17th, 2010 by Holger

Hi,

I’m going to tell you what has happened during the first 6 days in Germany

Day 1: 12 housemates entered the Big Brother house, with half of them (Carlos, Daniel, Harald, Horst, Micaela, Pluto) living in the Main House and half of them (Cora, Eva, Iris, Kristina, Pisei, Uwe) living in a Secret House next door.

Day 2: Horst has walked out of the BB House because he couldn’t relax and enjoy the time in Big Brother House because he is confronted with different issues which he didn’t like to think about. (My opinion: He is a bit homophobic and can’t stand the appearance of Carlos & Harald.) In the Secret House housemates got their first weekly task: During the next week they have 1 minute time (that will be a total of 30 times during the week)  to collect as many trash as they can find to gain rewards depending on how much trash they collect during the week. (for 500 kg trash they get sheets, for 1000 kg they get pillow, for 1500 kg they get soft blanket and for 2500 kg they’ll get mattresses)
Day 3: Tobias, a 29-year-old self-employed mechanic from Aschaffenburg, entered the Main House as a replacement housemate for Horst. Later on, Big Brother revealed the Main House that there is a Secret House and that they will get to view the Secret House irregularly. In a small task, Daniel & Pluto had to bake their favourite woman. Also Cora & Pisei had to bake their favourite man.
Day 4: Pisei wanted to leave the Secret House because she is unhappy with her current living situation. But she decided to stay after a long visit to the Diary Room. While the task is going on the Secret Task, Big Brother locked the housemates in the bedroom, just to add more trash into the living area. Furthermore, because they are so many women in the Secret House, the housemates will get a chance to date one man each where they’re going to pick one later to live with them in the Secret House. (More from this later on.)
Day 5:  In a mini task, Cora had to plaster Uwe’s body. Later tonight, Daniel had his 20th birthday and BB gave the housemates in the Main House a beach-themed party with cocktails, limbos, costumes and bathing accesoires (even though it was around -5 degrees Celsius outside). Past midnight,  a big birthday cake was lifted into the garden with a new housemate, Sabrina, in it. Sabrina is 24 years old, of semi-Italian and semi-Albanian descent and works as a hairdresser and occasional radio host in Neu-Isenburg. As the party ended, Harald & Pluto got in an argument about Pluto’s behaviour towards other housemates. Harald accused Pluto of smoking the cigarettes provided for other housemates. It finally cooled down as Harald had misinterpreted a gesture Pluto made towards him.
Day 6: In the Secret House another big argument started between Uwe & Cora. As they came to Cora’s profession as an erotic actress again, Uwe accused Cora that she is prostituting herself in her jobs and that her job is nothing other than a prostitute. This caused Cora to cry in the course of the events. Later on, Pisei, Uwe & Kristina were “Dating in the Dark”. Unknown to them, they were dating the same male person but he personated three men with somehow very extreme characters. It is rumoured that this man (known a casting show failer) will enter the house as a housemate tomorrow.
As known, the plans for tomorrow’s Live Show:
- There will be an eviction. For the first time since series 5 there will be an eviction after week 1.  It is still unknown, if one of the housemates in the Secret House will be evicted or everybody (except for Tobias & Sabrina) will face the public vote.
- The three remaining dates for Eva, Iris & Cora will be happening during the Live Show with the entrance of Klaus (31) from Reutlingen, whom the housemates from the Secret House are actually dating.
See you on Tuesday for a review of tomorrow’s live show,
Holger

BB10 Germany Launch Night Review

Posted in Big Brother, Big Brother 10 Germany, Holger's Blog on January 12th, 2010 by Holger

Hi, here is my promised review of yesterday’s Launch Night.

We were welcomed by the revived host Aleksandra Bechtel (who did make a very good job all night long) in a renewed studio, held in red and gold. After a VT with the house tour, the housemates were introduced:

Carlos, 45-year-old singer and Harald, 42-year-old invalidity pensioner from Berlin. A gay couple with the two partners being HIV-positive. I would like to point out that the producers did not put the disease in the centre of their entry and was not mentioned during the Launch Night Show.  They will live in the Main House.

First to enter the Secret “Messie-style” House was Cora, a 20-year-old porn actress from Hamburg. She entered and was speechless for around the next 10 minutes or so, sitting on just piece of seat and not moving either.

Next to enter the Main House was Horst, a 41-year-old tattoo artist from Otzberg near Darmstadt. He actually seemed to get along very well but has already left the BB house around 3pm today because he couldn’t handle the serious thoughts which he thought wouldn’t appear. (In my opinion, he couldn’t handle that Carlos and Harald were gay and both HIV-positive.)

Then Pisei, an 18-year-old model and actress from Dresden, entered the Secret House was as stunned as Cora. Both Cora and Pisei didn’t want to make any unnecessary. Pisei seemed uncomfortable all night long.

Daniel was then the 6th housemate to the BB House and the 4th to enter the Main House. He is 19 years old and a casual jobber. His last job was at a bottle store. He didn’t make any real impact so far.

Next to enter the Secret House was Eva, 24 from Bielefeld. She is currently studying social pedagogy. She seemed to have no problems with her new “Messie-like” surroundigs and could be described as “the Girl Next Door”. She became a very early favourite within the BB fanbase for just being normal and not being as puppet-like as her other female housemates.

Next to enter was Pluto. He is 29 years old and lives in the streets of Cologne as a homeless person. His real name is Dirk and he can go very far (in my opinion).

The 4th girl to enter the Secret House was Kristina. She is 23 years old from Troisdorf, but born in Kazakhstan. She is currently searching for a job. She couldn’t impress me so far and seems rather boring.

The 5th female housemate to enter the Secret House is 41-year-old Iris. She is living in Ludwigshafen as a single mother of 3 children and is currently running a bistro in Ludwigshafen. She could become a mother-like figure with all its advantages and disavantages.

Then comes a twist. In my opinion, it was just to secure that it would be looking very obvious.

Micaela, the last girl to enter the house today, was put into the Main House. She is a 26-year-old model from Berlin. Before her entry, material from the casting was shown with her crying because of a sort of life crisis she has at the moment. She will be one of the characters to watch in the next weeks because she has disconnected with her family and close friends.

Last to enter the Secret House then was Uwe, a 22-year-old barkeeper & model from Hamburg. He seems to be a very good bloke and so far my favourite amongst the male housemates.

So these are the twelve housemates.

Some remarks about the Main and the Secret House: Both houses were designed very well. A hen-coop will return for the first time in 8 years. In the garden is also an open-air punishment area marked out by big spiles and designed like a little military camp. In the Secret House there is just a very limited open area, looking very meager with just two benches to sit on. The wall inside are painted in Graffiti style with sayings like “Home Sweet Home” or “Home is where my heart is”. Very ironic. Every room is designed like a big dump.

All in all, it was a very good start for BB10. 1,65 million peopleoverall saw last night’s show which resulted in a market share of 7.2%. In the target group 1,31 million people watched the show making a market share of very good 13%. A good house, a good host, a good bunch of housemates – what more can you ask for a great start of maybe a great series.

See you on Sunday with the highlights from this week’s house action,

Holger

BB10 Germany First Exclusive Infos & Pre-Launch Thoughts

Posted in Big Brother, Big Brother 10 Germany, Holger's Blog on January 10th, 2010 by Holger

Hi, I’m Holger and I’ll be covering Big Brother 10 Germany via this blog. There will be two entries a week with a Live Show review on Tuesdays and a weekly review of the happening s in the house on Sundays.

As it’s just 28 hours before the Launch of BB10, I’m very excited about the upcoming season of Big Brother because there has been some real amazing improvements from the heavily critisized 9th season:

First of all, they are advertising this season a lot better than in previous years. There have been big posters in cities all over Germany and advertising on well-known websites and Germany’s most-read newspaper. Secondly, they changed the date from early December to early January as they were very low ratings during the first month of BB9. The third thing is that the whole concept of the season is fresh and new to German viewers. Fourthly, there are still many secrets left for tomorrow’s Launch Night as this year’s motto says:”Everyone has a secret.”

The concept (as revealed so far) is the following: There will be two houses. The one house is the house used for season 8 & 9 and is furnished relatively normal which the male housemates will be entering tomorrow. The other house is called by the fans the “Messie house” as it is furnished with lots of trash, rubbish, filthy and used things. It does look very ugly but it’s promising a lot of tension because the female housemates will live together in these unreal circumstances. These two houses will be merged later on in the series, with the most popular housemates of both living areas being voted in for the united house. It is rumoured that it will be happening after 4 weeks or so. I have to tell that the second house is mainly like a house next door rather than a separated second house.

So far, there have been three housemates revealed by the media:

The first two ones are Carlos Fassanelli, 45 and his husband Harald, 42 both living in Berlin. Carlos was in the final of Germany’s Got Talent in 2008 and both Carlos and Harald are HIV-positive. Carlos is a singer and Harald is an invalidity pensioner.

The third housemates is Micaela Schäfer, 26, also from Berlin. She is an professional model and took part in the first season of Germany’s Next Topmodel.

These housemates are rumoured to go in tomorrow:

Dirk, 30, A homeless man from Cologne

Eva, 24, with vocational diploma in Social Work from Bielefeld

Uwe Schüder, 22, an extreme athlete and Kung Fu fighter from Hamburg

Iris Klein, 42, an gastronomer from Ludwigshafen

Pisei La, 18, a model from Dresden, originally from Cambodia

Horst, 41

As you see, there is a wide range of housemates from normal ones to housemates with a very extreme life story. I like the fact that there are housemates which are older than 40 years old and I don’t mind that an HIV-positive couple is going in because it may increase the awareness of HIV and AIDS within the German society. Nevertheless, these re are done because the producers also want a better awareness of Big Brother in Germany and it has disappeared from the limelight in the German media. An slight indicator is that around 1.5 million people watched last Monday’s review of BB in Germany and received a market share of 8.2% in the target group which is very good for the terms of RTL II.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my little preview.

See you on Tuesday for the Review of the Launch Night with more in-deep introductions to this year’s housemates,

Holger
