AI9 – Auditions: Los Angeles, CA
The fifth audition city of American Idol 9 was indeed Los Angeles, the city of angels. Also, yes, the succesful auditioners have just a short trip when they go to Hollywood. In this episode, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry took turns as being special guest judges. Avril was the judge on day one, and Katy was the judge on day two.
Neil Goldstein – He was the first hopeful to audition in Los Angeles. As hestarted singing, he got extremely nervous, pasing for abotu a minute. Also to mention, his hair made me feel very uncomfortable. He didn’t sing very well, and Simon says to him that he is not suited for this type of business. He was rejected, and decided to leave only to avoid being carried out by security, after trying to agrue with Simon.
Jim Ranger – This guy sings a song he wrote called Drive. Simon called him authentic, and Simon says yes to him. However, Avril said no, as I’m not sure why she said no in the first place. It was up to Kara and Randy, who apparently say yes, since he gets a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Damien Lefaver – This guy is addicted to another passion, Martial Arts, comparing himself to a pacifist. Singing is his other passion. However, for a day job, he makes sandwiches. He sang very bad, and was choking a lot. Simon tells Danien he should just go. Damien says he mesed up, admiting thtat, but says he could’ve done a whole lot better.
Mary Powers – Girl Rocker with a daughter who is a fan of Simon (the dughter is a fan). She sang very good, strong with emotion. Simon didn’t like her appearance, saying it was very cliche, but says yes to singing. However, Avril loved her rock appearance and voice, and yes yes. As Randy and Kara also say yes, she’s pu through to Hollywood. My personal note is that she looks so much like Lydia from Big Brother US 11, only with singing talent.
Next, we hear from an guy (name not known) who says if Susan Boyle and Adam Lambert had sex, their kid would look like him. I thought that was so funny, but awkward at the same time.
AJ Mendoza – An Adam Lambert fan and lookalike, who sang very strony, kind of okay, but I don’t think it’d be what American Idol would look for. Simon says he sounded like he’s visiting the dentist for an appointment. He was rejected.
Next, it is day 2 and it is Katy Perry’s turn to be a judge.
Austin Fullmer – This guy sang outrageously horrible, and I could barely tell what he was saying, and he tried to sing with a British accent. Simon says this isn’t his purpose in life, and this guy also freaked Simon out. He was rejected.
Andrew Garcia – A guy coming from a struggling family. When he sang, it sounded much like oldies or blues to me. Simon says he was a geneuinely good singer. He gets four yes’s.
Tasha Layton – She started singing very good, in my opinion, but now I don’t remember her. Simon says people may like her. She gets four votes for yes and goes through to Hollywood.
Jason Greene – This guy started to sing, and it crepeped Kathy Perry out. He also sand very horrible, in my opinion. Katy tells Jason he made her feel dirty, and Jason tells Kathy the same thing. They all rejected him.
Chris Golightly – This kid is a foster kid who has always liked music. He sang very excellent, in my opinion. Randy says he’s interesting, and Kara says he’s her favorite, and I say he was my favorite LA hopeful. Katy says he needs more to him, but I thought Katy was being rude, as Katy calls Chris Golighty being in foster care a “Lifetime Movie”, and I personally took offense to that, so I dislike Katy Perry even more than I did, lol. Simon says he looks boy-band-sish, which I totally would disagree, Clay Aiken is more boy-band-ish than this guy. Anyways, with four yes’s, he goes through to Hollywood.
A total of 22 hopefuls will go to Hollywood from Los Angeles. This brings us up to 122. Los Angeles was okay, in their auditions. I would say that the best performances of this episode were obviously Mary Powers and Chris Golighty. I am deferentially placing them in the top five of my list. I believe Dallas is the last stp, and we go to Hollywood. Here is an LLNMD list of the Los Angeles successful auditioners and a new top 5 favorite hopefuls.
