AI9 – Auditions: Denver, CO

The seventh stop American Idol made during it’s Audition process was Denver, Colorado. Victoria Beckham was once again the judge. This is the final audition city, before the “Best of the Rest” clip show tonight. I’ll have to see if that’s worth blogging about or not, maybe they’ll show other successful auditions.

Mark Labriola – The first audition of the day, a guy who says people tell him he looks like Jack Black. He tells Simon he loves cheese, and then the conversation turned into this guy’s whole life story, about him mother and everything. I didn’t think he sounded too great, but the judges liked him. He didn’t sound so serious, but he made it trough to Hollywood.

Mario Gaiven – He is an addictions counselor, singing Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock. Simon asks him what break has he had, but he was ultimately rejected.

Kimberly Kerbow – She sounded great, in my opinion. She also hs a five year old daughter, as a single mom. The judges liked her, and she was votes yes to Hollywood, receiving four votes.

Danielle Hayes – A karaoke host who is a song writer and another single mom. She’s saying she’s been pursuing her singing career for a couple years. To me, she sang very strong, flowing, and very good. Simon likes her, but says she seems a little “broken”. Kara says she’s movable, and Victoria says she could go far.

Casey James – He started singing okay, but not my style of music. Simon says he was bad, but Kara says he was very good, and Victoria ended up saying yes when he took his shirt off. Randy says yes, for the girls, but says he needs much improvement.

Tori Kelly – A girl who brings in a kid who draws pictures of the judges. When Tori sang, she sang very good. Kara liked Tori, but Simon says her voice was annoying. Randy. Victoria, and Kara say yes, making her through to Hollywood.

Austin Paul – A football player who likes to sing. He says going to Hollywood through American Idol is ‘Number 42″ on a list of things he wants to do. Kara says he’s a bit cocky and Simon says his voice is very annoying, as Victoria says he was a bit arrogant. He was rejected.

Kenny Everett – A guy who considers himself the male version of Mary J. Blige. He sounds lousy, and is basically screaming as he sings. He also basically killed Be Without You, by Mary J. Blige. Simon agreed, saying he sounding like nothing but screaming. He refused to hear no, and continued to sing. He sang again, and the judges began chanting “Go, Go, Go”.

Nicci Nix – A girl who is from Italy and flew fourteen hours to Denver. I thought she sounded like a little girl at first, but got better. Simon says she sang with meaningful lyrics and sang deeper than her speaking voice. She got four votes to head to Hollywood.

Haeley Vaughan – She considers herself a miracle child, being born under three pounds. Also, she went through the loss of her father. For An African-American girl, I was surprised by her originality to sing a country sing, a Carrie Underwood song. She claims she wants to be a country music artist. The jusges also loved her originality, and decided to put her through to Hollywood.

A grand total of 26 hopefuls made it through to Hollywood. The grand total of hopefuls going to Hollywood are 180. Then the episode ended with a horrifying twist, a  guy in a bikini, now named “Bikini Boy” after we saw Bikini Girl last year, came into the audition room. The judges were just as horrified, and told him the look clearly doesn’t work for him. Out of the good, decent auditions, Danielle Hayes was probably the best one, following that would be Haeley Vaughan. I’ll post the LLNMD list, and Tomorrow after the Best of the Rest show, I’ll post a top twelve hopefuls, seeing how accurate my ist comes out of the actual top twelve.
