AI9 – Auditions: Dallas, TX

This sixth episode of American Idol took place in Dallas, TX, where the special guests were, first, Neil Patrick Harris, a Broadway star, now an actor on How I Met Your Mother, and Joe Jonas, a musician from the hugely popular band the Jonas Brothers, obsessed over by mostly preteen girls. I thought this was the end of the suditiones, but apparently, there is one more, so I’ll have a top twelve hopefuls list up next week.

Julie Kevelighen – She was the first hopeful to audition for Dallas. She was someone who auditioned in season one, and is now back to try for season nine. When she sang, I thought she tried to sing like Broadway, but must have failed. Neil says it wasn’t good and Simon says it, or the singing, the make up, the appearance, is all wrong. When the judges said no, she refused to leave, and continued singing, only to end up escorted out by security.

Lloyd Thomas – A guy who started dancing with Robot moves. He complains about hating his job, and says he grew up in the projects. When he sang, he sang okay, better than I expected. Kara tells him that American Idol is the type of show that could really change his life. Also, Randy, Neil, and Simon loved him too. He gets put through to Hollywood.

Kimberly Carver – Neil seemed to enjoy this girl when she sang. I don’t remember her now, so I don’t know what to say. Simon says she wasn’t very interesting. However, all of the judges say yes to her.

Dexter Ward – An African-American guy with a bleach-haired Mohawk. To me, he sounded very bad. Randy says he looks like he was hurt. He was indeed rejected.

Erica Rhodes – A grad student and actress, who appeared as a kid from the children show Barney & Friends. She sang the Barney & Friends catchy song “I Love You”, but also says she wants to prove that Barney kids do grow up. Indeed she grew up, because she had a whip and wasn’t dressed like a child, for sure. When she sang a real song, Kara says she loved her originality. Also, Erica goes through to Hollywood. She was indeed a good singer, and does indeed prove she grows up.

Dave Pittman – A guy with Tourettes syndrome. In my opinion, he sang very excellent, and didn’t sing too country, more like rock-ish in my opinion I thought. Neil and Randy really liked his voice, and Simon says he’s likeable. He gets four votes for yes to Hollywood.

Now, it is a rather short day two, with Joe Jonas as guest judge.

Todrick Hall – He started singing very good, and sounded like he would impress any young girl. Randy says he’s impressive. Simon was left uncertain, but anyways, he got four votes for yes to Hollywood.

Maegan Wright- She, I believe, raises her little brother or something. Kara really liked her, and says she was surprised by her. All four of the judges say yes. I thought she sounded good, and authentic in my opinion.

Vanessa Johnston – A very happy, positive person who sang very loud and not god at all. Kara says she sould move her head like Brittany spears and Simon says she was like one of his nightmares. They all reject her, and she still had a happy, cheery attitude.

Christian Spear – She was the last hopeful to audition and was a leukemia survivor, suffering from Leukemia at age four. She sang very good, excellent in my opinion. Randy says she’s really good, and Simon and Kara says she’s brave. Christian goes to Hollywood with fur yes’s.

A total of 31 hopefuls were successful in their audition, bringing the total to 153. Denver, CO is the last stop before I will make a list of the top twelve auditioners. My favourite person from Dallas was surprisingly the Barney kid Erica Rhodes. My second favorite is clearly Dave Pittman. Below is a list of whom I liked from this audition along with the new top five.Overall, Dallas had a good variety of singers, so I was impressed by this city.
